Raj plays the peacemaker | latest news in bollywood

New Delhi: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has finally come out as a peacemaker between the producers of the upcoming Bollywood film, Chennai Express and Marathi film, Duniyadari.

The teams of both the films went to meet Raj on Thursday where he decided that single screen theatres will not remove Marathi films to accommodate Chennai Express. Once the audience of the Marathi film decreases, the Rohit Shetty’s film can be released in that theatre.

UTV team also gave an explanation to Raj that they have not pressured the theatre owner to run their film Chennai Express.

Earlier, the party’s film unit was unhappy with reports that the film’s prime slots in statewide single cinemas were going to affect the screening of some Marathi movies. They had threatened to tear the posters and stop the screening on August 9.

Duniyadari has been running successfully in single screen cinemas since July 19.

Chennai Express stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead. The film will hit theatres on August 8.        (With Agency Inputs)
